Meet ArtHive Coop

You have landed on the ArtHive Co-operative Ltd page. So, who are they, you might ask, and what are they about?

We are a newly established co-operative, born out of a dream of championing the arts in all their forms – visual arts, music and dance, digital arts, literature . . . The list is endless.

It is a legitimate question if you’re asking what the point is – after all, things are happening, creatives are creating. So what are we trying to achieve? Here is the answer (which probably you already know): art doesn’t come easy, and artists, all over the world as well as (and especially) in countries such as Malta, don’t have it easy. We at ArtHive are here to bring the art market to the doorstep of all artists – not just the typical western artist catering to an affluent western audience, but artists who come from all backgrounds and all levels of society. Arthive, made up of practising artists, is here to help artist through various projects: a website which artists can use as a hub; a virtual gallery with 3D and VR capabilities; online and in-person masterclasses; events and performances.

But we won’t stop there. Our aim is to make the logistical and financial burden a little (or a lot) lighter for the artist – that is what a co-op does.

Our vision also looks into the distance thanks to its educational ambition. We are going into the schools with educational programmes designed and delivered by established artists to foster in school children a love for the arts, thus enriching their lives and society. We harbour the exciting dream of helping discover some of the next generation’s artists . . . Yes, we are dreamers. And we dream big.
